We reject passive learning, where children are expected to sit for long periods, have a short recess and limited time outside. Instead, we advocate for an active learning experience, where children not only move around but also act as protagonists and leaders of their educational experience.

We are proud to offer a bilingual education program that follows the Two-Way Dual Language model, intentionally composed of both Spanish and English speakers from Preschool to Elementary. Our vision is to create a learning environment where children, regardless of their native language, achieve proficiency in both languages while nurturing cultural competence and academic excellence. Bilingual strategies are seamlessly integrated into all school projects and activities, enriching the daily learning experience for all children. Beginning with a stronger emphasis on Spanish and gradually transitioning to a balanced 50-50 distribution, our model ensures comprehensive language development.
We prioritize outdoor learning
JOY recognizes the importance of spending time outside and connecting with nature. The benefits are infinite but not limited to:
• Improved physical health
• Mental and Emotional wellbeing

• Appreciation of living things
• Higher academic performance
For these reasons, we adjust our schedule to be outside for extended periods of time. Some ways that we do this include: eating meals, reading books, having small group or whole group instruction outside, as well as free play.
The goal is to develop a sense of inter-connection with Mother Earth. Outdoor learning environments, like everything we do, are intentionally enhanced. We make sure that the outdoor space offers rich and diverse opportunities for children to explore the natural world around them.

Our new school is exceptional, featuring five acres of stunning outdoor space, including a multiple sport court and picturesque areas ideal for our JOY philosophy. It is conveniently situated in Leon Springs, making it accessible for families in San Antonio, Fair Oaks, and Boerne who seek a bilingual and holistic education.
We are also excited to announce that we are expanding to elementary education, bringing all the great things that we do at JOY Preschool to older students. From serving the community to engaging in entrepreneurship, we are committed to providing a well-rounded education, for students of all ages, that prepares them for success in all aspects of life.
